My Qingming story by UYA

My father died in 2007 in a tragic car accident. On this day (
feeling restless)I was in Beijing and decided to visit the Ming Gate near tianamen. There is a museum dedicated to Beijing history, upstairs is a gift shop where travelers can make "blessings" for all sorts of reasons. Not one who is big on touristy goods, i made my way up the narrow staircase. and wondered what should I wish for, wealth?, love?, happiness? Of all the things one could wish for......i made a blessings for my family, unbeknownst to me my father died 3 hours to the minute before. Please keep in mind my family is not particularly close and looking back I really did not know why I did such a thing that day.

My Qingming story part 2

Every year I go back home during the winter holidays to visit my family and friends. And EACH time I visit my fathers grave (the last two years) I see one of my brothers there. Now my visits there are totally random and in fact on one occasion I was cruising around with a friend and we happened to drive by and told him to stop (so happens his father is buried there also). 5 minutes before or after we would not of bumped into each other. Think about it......2 times I visit home and 2 times I visit my fathers grave I see one of my brothers there....what are the odds??????

My Qingming story part 3

One month after my father died I had a dream.....

I was with my brother and daughter bowling and I saw my father sitting next to us. I looked at my brother to see if he sees him too. My brother gave me a look as to say "be quiet", but I had to say something.....

I ask my father...."where were you?". He then smiled and got up and started walking away. I got up and followed him, I remember touching his back and felt the moles he had (that's how real the dream was). When I finally caught up with him and we sat, I asked him....."How are you?" , thinking this was a stupid question because heaven was such a great place. He looked at me and said...."I'm not happy". I asked "why"? He told me it is because the family is fighting.

(This is true because since my father died my  brothers are involved in an "ugly money grab"   and is one of the major reasons I came to China)

I remember starting to cry. Then he turned to me and said....."Don't worry I will always look after you". After that I woke up bawling.

On summer holidays last year I was in Shenzhen with another foreign teacher. One night we decided to go to "Sea World" which is a large complex of bars and clubs. We wondered into a bar and had a few drinks. To make this story short, when we got our bill and they wanted 2000 rmb. Knowing this was just a "rip off" we objected and paid for what we drank. They would not let us leave and began to slap us. Keeping a cool head I tried to reason with them to no avail. Then they started to hit us with broom sticks and would not let us call the police. I turned to my friend and said..."we might have to run". The next time they started to attack us I ran for the door. 6 girls jumped on me and started to hit and kick me. My friend managed to get away and ran for help. Here is where it gets weird......

My friend tried to find a foreigner who could also speak chinese. He found such a guy rather quickly and got the police and I was saved in time. It turned out this guy used to teach at the SAME school my friend and I were in Harbin (across the country)! Also before my friend came to teach here in China he contacted a few former teachers at our school to get info about life there. IT WAS THE SAME GUY!!!!!!!!!!

Out of the billion people in China...what are the odds of finding this guy in our hour of need?

This happened on my fathers birthday! There is no doubt in my mind, my father was there.... looking out for me!

One day I was watching TV in Guangzhou, suddenly the lights went out. I got up and saw the electric switch tripped. So I turned it on and started watching my show again. Then the lights went out again. Puzzled I got up and investigated what was causing the fuse to trip. My rice cooker (less than a year old) was shorting, so I started cooking the rice on the stove and returned to my program. All of a sudden "BOOM" ! I got up and wondered "WTF!" The pyrex glass cover on the pot broke into a million pieces! Then I realized.....

It was one year to the day of my fathers death (I burned money and incense after).
