Friendship is an interpersonal relationship between two persons who are willing to react to each other in a peaceful, equal, unique and irreplaceable way. It’s all about people having mutual positive regard and reciprocal affection.

People used to believe that friendship was in some way shackled by one’s environment and as a result made it relationship of choice within particularly geographical limitations. Such situations, however, is changing rapidly, which has allowed friendship built nowadays to become a more voluntary one thanks to Internet being nearly universal.

The reason for friendship being so important are categorized as five types as below:

Utility: Someone who may have special talents, skills, or resources that will prove useful to you in achieving your specific goals and needs.

Affirmation: One’s personal personalities and contributions need to be affirmed.

Ego Support: People respect those who respect them.

Stimulation: Friends who brings new ideas and new ways of seeing the world is helpful to expand one’s worldview.

Security: Everyone has weakness and inadequacy that need to be shielded.

Friendship develops over time in stages. It starts from initial contact, which is likely to characterized by vigilance and awkwardness due to unfamiliarity. After that comes an involvement period, in which people can communicate with confidence and express themselves in a more open way, as well as develop a positive attitude towards the other person. After that, if it manages to be upgraded, an intimate friendship will emerge. Along with greater positive energy and openness, People are more other-oriented and more willing to sacrifice; otherwise, such relationship may suffer from dissolution: that is, it finally loses its balance and equality and has pressed one side to do nothing but to end all of this.
