Google has acquired AppJet Inc

EtherPad

Google has acquired AppJet Inc. and its EtherPad collaboration product and technology.

The EtherPad.com servers have now been shut down, according to the timetable announced previously.

Google recognizes the value of the EtherPad code base and has released the code as open source. For more information, see:

This open source release has already led to many efforts to foster further development and provide EtherPad-like services. Google开源Etherpad，Piratepad发布

Google在不久前收购了实时在线文档协作工具Etherpad的开发商AppJet，Google的计划是将Etherpad的技术用在Google Wave协作平台上，关闭Etherpad的服务，开源其代码。18日Google在Apache许可证下发布Etherpad的代码，Etherpad开源项目托管在Google Code上。Etherpad代码发布没多久，瑞典海盗党就在此基础上建立了一个实时在线协作工具piratepad.net。瑞典海盗党表示这是给全世界海盗的圣诞礼物：基于Tor的匿名服务和基于Etherpad的实时协作工具。海盗党表示该工具可让海盗们不用担心监管。
