International Immunopharmacology/ Perinatal and early childhood environmental factors influencing allergic asthma immunopathogenesis

Summary:

Asthma being diagnosed in a person’s early childhood has many different causes. It occurs when the airways become inflamed, making it very difficult to breathe. This article helped to inform about different ways asthma occurs and how to reduce the amount of cases or symptoms. Many scientists have discovered that environmental factors play a big role in asthma attacks. Atopy plays the biggest role and goes hand in hand with asthma development. This includes a higher risk for children with atopic parents. House dust mites, found in stuffed animals, mattresses, etc.…, can also spark asthma to appear. Pets, mainly dogs, and cats, are a very popular allergen and can cause cases of asthma as well. Timing of sensation, air pollution, tobacco smoke, microbiome, and infections are also common in causing asthma. Ways of treating asthma can be through antiviral therapy, allergen remediation, and probiotics.

Methods:

Studied articles and recent medical journals on the role perinatal and childhood exposures on intercepting asthma in children and while aging in general.

Conclusions:

Exposure to certain things like dust, dirt, tobacco, pets, and air pollution can be helpful when preventing asthma in high risk children early in life. It is best for younger children to have this exposure so they can become used to being around it and it will not cause an asthma attack later in life. I found it interesting that research showed that sometimes, early exposure can be helpful in asthma prevention. I have never thought about it with that view before and it was interesting to read about.
