1. because(语气比较强,比较正式场合)/for/since/as

He's absent because he's ill

The day breaks, for( 表示推测, 并非因为鸟唱歌天就亮) the birds are singing.

Since you are ill, I'll go alone

As it is snowing, we shall not go to the park.

 1.1 because

He's absent because he's ill //

She didn't marry you (not) because you had money.

She didn't marry you, because you had money. //

I didn't go to see him,for a heavy snow was falling.

The day breaks, for the birds are singing//

As(由于,语气弱) it is raining, we'd better stay at home

Since(既然)  you've finished your homework, you can watch Tv now.

Seeing that /considering that(鉴于) the weather is bad, we'll stay at home

Now that(既然) is has stopped raing, let's start at once.

Not that(不是) i don't like the film, but that i hove no time for it // 不是....... 而是

I like the city in that i have more friends here. //in that某方面的原因     because 是唯一的原因

because

for                                since                                seeing that

as                                 now that                           considering that

in that

2. 目的

He gets very early so that/in ordor that he can catch the first bus.

Shut the window for fear that it may rain.生怕

Take your umbrella in case it rains. 以防

She walked int the room quietly lest she should wake up her baby.// lest +should do(固定) 为了不

3结果

It is such a heavy box that nobody could move it.

it is so heavy a box that nobody could move it.

The box is so heavy that nobody could move it.

so/such ......that

I made a big mistake, so that I lost of money.

such as // 缺成分

it is such an important part of our society  that  it has influenced our language.

I have changed it just as you suggested // 正如

he watched her as a act watches  a rat // 就像

she's doing her work the way i like it done // 以......方式

she stood at the door as if/though she was waiting for someone // 猜测 好像

he acts as if /though she didn't exist // 虚拟 好像
